Anything bigger than a dinner plate is worth dealing with. A musty smell that hangs around after you’ve scrubbed the visible spot usually means something is growing where you can’t see it, behind drywall, up in the attic framing, or down in the crawl space. Other tells: headaches that disappear the moment you step outside, a cough the kids never get at school, sinus stuff that never clears. If you’ve already had a lab test and the spore count came back high, that’s just confirmation.
Birmingham does not do mould any favours. The summers are humid and long, storms roll up off the Gulf every spring, and the winters are too mild to ever dry anything out properly. The first pass is an antimicrobial sterilant that fogs through the house and kills mould on surfaces and in the air, including inside wall cavities, crawl spaces, attic framing, carpet fibres and HVAC ducts. The ducts matter more than people realise because that’s usually where a lot of the damage is hiding. The second pass puts down a protective coating so new growth has a harder time getting started.
The active ingredient is on the EPA’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List, most families are back in the house the same day, and a typical job wraps in under twelve hours. No demo, no cabinets ripped out.
There’s no flat price because every house is a different situation. An attic leak caught early is a quick job. A crawl space that’s been wet since 2019 is not. The main variables are the size of the affected area, how far spores have moved through the house, and what the underlying moisture source is.
